All in one place!

A place to learn ballet and work in a greenhouse!

Do you know where a student can go to learn how to play the piano, work in an aquaponics greenhouse, and receive professional counseling? While this diverse combination may seem difficult to pull off, they are all electives offered to students at Urban Vision! In fact, we do our best to offer our students as many electives as possible because we believe in order to help someone grow, you must engage their whole self.

Pictured above is an individualized schedule that each of our 150 Set on Success students receive daily. The top of the schedule tells you which activity the student is attending, the bottom tells you where that activity is happening, and the number on the side shows which period it is taking place in.

While this may seem overwhelming at first, these electives are our student’s favorite part about participating in Set on Success. This is because, outside of a few mandatory classes, they get to choose each elective they are taking. This freedom to choose encourages our students as they continue to grow into North Hill’s future leaders. By pursuing something they are passionate about (like ballet) they not only learn a new skill but also how satisfying it is to see a task to completion. Through our many electives our students are learning the value of handwork and the benefits of commitment.

Yet, without Urban Vision family members like you, our class options would be a shadow of what they currently are. While our staff is talented, there are many skills and hobbies they are unequipped to teach. That is why we are always excited when a member of our Urban Vision family steps up and offers to teach our students about something they love. In fact, without volunteers like this we wouldn’t be able to offer many of our current electives like workshop, chess, or Bible quizzing.

We are always looking to add new classes and elective to our schedule; if you believe you have a skillset or hobby you would like to teach students, click this link and fill out our volunteer inquiry form.
