Clorinda Tucker

Clorinda Tucker lives her life as a living, breathing testimony of what God has done for her and how she longs to see others give their hearts to Jesus. Clorinda’s faith in Christ was modeled in her beloved parents who served God as ministers of the Word.  

Clorinda has been connected to Urban Vision since the early days. We met in connection with Faith Tabernacle Church. Her love for children and her love for Savior is something that overflows in her life.  

From helping out at our Family night camps, Kids club, Junior kids club, Set on Success Afterschool, Beacon School, and special events, Clorinda always sought to be a help and a blessing wherever needed.  

Clorinda loves to connect with the body of Christ and she is a beautiful witness to love others no matter what background of culture or language. Differences have never detoured Clorinda to be a light and a true reconciler in a very broken world. I know Clorinda to be a sister in Christ who has taken the time to pray for the ministry of Urban Vision. Over the years we have walked and prayed many miles on paths and through Urban Vision, seeking the heart of God for this ministry and for the people of this community. We prayed for our families for the ministry for God’s presence and for the good news of the Gospel to go forth. God has heard and answered many of these prayers. Many are not so blessed as I to have such a friend such a mentor such a beautiful Woman of God in my life and for the ministry. 

I have a couple favorite quotes she would often remind me of when I would encounter great trouble she would say “Jodi, if there is no test there is no testimony” and “Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity.” I really did listen, Ms. Clorinda!  

Clorinda is a generous giver and is always looking for ways to come alongside children who need that extra assistance. Her loving, patient, yet firm approach has impacted children not only at Urban Vision but also in various other programs she volunteers at throughout the Greater Akron community. Clorinda loves the Word and loves teaching, especially the little ones.  

She has a gift. To watch in person how she is so animated and engages these little ones to help them understand the simple yet powerful life-changing truths of the Gospel is just amazing! When we first moved into the building in 2007, I needed someone to teach our youngest children, and I knew without a doubt who to call and ask. She is faithful, committed, and passionate about her love for Jesus and sharing this with whomever she comes in contact with. Today, she currently still volunteers at our SOS program, coming alongside children to help them achieve their academic goals. We are honored to celebrate Clorinda as she receives the Co-laborer in Christ Award of 2024 for being a bright light for Jesus here at Urban Vision and beyond!
