Jim Moore

Urban Vision is delighted to recognize Jim Moore as a recipient of this year’s Co-Laborers in Christ Award, a well‑deserved honor for a man whose quiet strength, steadfast presence, and servant’s heart have blessed our ministry for many years.
Jim’s journey with Urban Vision began in the days of the Beacon Learning Center, our former school designed to help students in the neighborhood catch up academically and build confidence. From the very beginning, Mr. Jim showed up faithfully—four days a week—ready to sit with students, encourage them, and patiently guide them through their lessons. His calm presence brought stability, and his steady commitment spoke louder than any words ever could.
When Urban Vision transitioned from the Beacon Learning Center to Set on Success, Jim didn’t miss a beat. He simply continued serving, now showing up every day to walk alongside our students in their after‑school work. For years, he became a dependable fixture of the program—never drawing attention to himself, but always there, always steady, always ready to help a child learn something new.
Jim exemplifies Urban Vision’s core values, especially faithfulness and perseverance. One of our favorite stories—one we still laugh about today—captures this perfectly. One afternoon, Mr. Jim called us after being in a car accident. He calmly explained that he’d be just a few minutes late; he simply needed to find a rental car so he could still make it to Set on Success. We had to insist that, yes, he was actually allowed to take the day off. His instinct was always to serve.
But Jim’s service didn’t end with academics. Behind the scenes, he has quietly kept Urban Vision’s machinery running—snow blowers, lawn mowers, and all kinds of equipment that make daily ministry possible. And, true to his nature, he didn’t just fix things himself. He used these moments as opportunities to teach, inviting students to join him and passing along practical skills, patience, and confidence. For some of those kids, fixing a bike with Mr. Jim was the first time they’d ever held a tool—and the first time they felt capable of building or repairing something with their own hands.
Through all these years and all these moments, Jim Moore has lived out exactly what it means to be a co-laborer in Christ: showing up faithfully, loving quietly, serving diligently, and leaving things—and people—better than he found them.
We are grateful beyond words for his dedication, and we are honored to celebrate him as a recipient of this 2025’s Co-Laborers in Christ Award.
